It was established to strengthen cooperation between Türkiye and the EU and to institutionalize social and economic dialogue. The council's task is to raise the level of mutual understanding and information between the EU and Türkiye and to increase opportunities that will benefit both sides.

The council works to organize negotiations for the implementation of joint projects, to organize international events, panels and conferences to share sectoral situations.
